The new agreement will start on 1 January 2022 and will replace the existing power purchase agreement and will last 11 years until 31 December 2032. The Wygen I Power Plant is located near Gillette in northeastern Wyoming and is a mining estuary operation with the adjacent mining complex. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a power purchase agreement between Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power Co., a subsidiary of Black Hills Corp., operating as Black Hills Energy, and Black Hills Wyoming, a power generation subsidiary. Black Hills Corp. officials said the extended contract will provide Cheyenne Light with a continuous source of baseload power as it begins to incorporate more renewable resources into its supply mix. The utility will begin adding wind energy to its resource mix in the coming months. .
